Can any bards out there help me to understand the War Cry spell. I am playing through the OC for the first time as a bard, and the spell I was most looking forward to was War Cry, but it does not work the way I expected.
When my bard casts War Cry it frightens her and her party, just as if she had cast a Fear spell centered on herself. The description of the spell makes it sound like only enemies will be affected by the fear part of the spell, while allies (or at least the caster) will be granted an attack bonus.
I thought this might be a bug so I corresponded with MacSoft (I'm playing the Mac version). Their feeling was that in order to not have the spell affect the caster I would have to reduce the difficulty level down from Hardcore D&D Rules. I don't like this answer. I think half the fun of casting a Lightning spell is having to worry about where it's headed. I also still think either the description of the spell is deceptive or it has been implemented incorrectly.
I wanted to get opinions as to how War Cry is supposed to work. And, if it is supposed to frighten the caster and her allies, what the hell is the point of it? I would never cast Fear on top of my party and just cross my fingers that they would all have the Fortitude to resist it, so why would I ever use War Cry?

This problem started in version 1.30. Have you updated to 1.31? I would hope it was fixed, but it may not have been and I have not tested it in 1.31. |
