The Problem: Affects all people who upgraded their mod to HotU. All encounters are broken such that any custom creatures are spawned incorrectly for level 21+ characters. They spawn as though they are level 1 characters with means the minimum & weakest encounter possible.
- I even tried using the Build Module function selecting compile: 'Creature CR', 'Encounters', 'Custom Pallettes'. Took 30 minutes to execute and had ZERO effect. They still spawn at minimum possible.
C'mon, this is a serious problem that's affecting everybody who bought HotU and had used the Bioware encounter triggers.
What do we do?!? |

Wow. That is a big problem. I didn't know this was happening; however, I haven't tried to create encounters for 21+ level PCs yet.
Who else is having this problem? _________________ Stealth For the spirit of comraderie, imagination, fantasy and role-play ... and most importantly, for the spirit that can only be found through Neverwinter Nights, which all of us have created together. |

I don't use custom encounter triggers any more mainly because they never worked properly. _________________ I never drink water because of the disgusting things that fish do in it. ~~~~~ W.C. Fields |

Have you submitted this as a bug to Bioware? If you don't nothing gets fixed. It's good to hear about these things on the boards, but don't forget to submit them first.

How come Bioware hasn't answered any of the threads on this?!? (i have em all in my topics so i dont miss any help!).
Help, advice, any suggestion, is a solution scriptable?, is bioware considering it important, or patchable, or even aware of it, or care... |

Its not just lvl 21 Characters its any lvl over 20 in a given class .. so my fire giant encounter has 5 CR spawns with their names changed so I can tell what’s spawning FG CR10,CR15,CR20,CR30,CR40.
A lvl 10 Fighter = CR10 giant A lvl 20 Fighter = CR20 giant lvl 21+ Fighter = CR10 as that’s the lowest I have in there.
A lvl 10 Fighter, lvl 10 Wizard = CR 20 A lvl 15 fighter, lvl 15 Wizard = CR 30 A lvl 20 Fighter, lvl 20 Wizard = CR 40
A lvl 10 fighter, lvl 10 DD = CR 20 so it’s not just PRCs
So the second a class goes over 20 it breaks all encounters and will always spawn the lowest CR as it thinks the char is 1 and always will do. I think it’s hard coded to accept the numbers up to 20 in a class as they never thought they were going to be doing 21+ they didn’t put it in and FORGOT to change it. You poor buggers are still going to have to go back and add higher CR critters to your encounters as I don’t think there is anyway to add higher stuff to all spawns in one go...

I found this on day 1 or hou release, posted it in 7 forums (with lots of rsponces) and sent 2 eamil to Bioware support. 1 week later the patch came out with no fix and it still Exists. I was told by 3 Bioware people to submit the problem to them (which as I said I had done 2 times the first few days).
I now have a lot of pissed of players. _________________ Silverti Quicksilver Adventure Island NWN Persistent 24X7 PW Story http://www.adv-island.com |

Perhaps someone should tell Bioware that PW owners like myself represent about 350 potential buyers of HotU who will probably not buy it unless it's fixed, since I will recommend them not to? _________________ Who wills, can Who tries, does Who loves, lives (Ann McCaffrey)

No offense to PW owners but if you convert your PW to the newest expansion within a week or two of release you deserve what you got.
Brynsaar wont be 1.61 OR HotU until it's debugged and the ridiculous game balance issues are addressed.
Whining players who want ridiculous PrC's and Epics or a broken PW.....you decide. _________________ Owner/Creator Brynsaar PW(NWN) |

I think the main issue is not that it's bugged, it's that they refuse to acknowledge that a) it's bugged and b) they're working on it. _________________ Who wills, can Who tries, does Who loves, lives (Ann McCaffrey)

Agreed, however, this is has been Bioware's policy since day one. They do not give ETA's on bug fixes. It's obviously a serious bug and it's been logged multiple times just by the people posting in this thread. It'll get fixed eventually, but this all boils down to people converting or trying to play brand new games/expansions and then complaining about bugs.
Brand new games have bugs. This is a fact of the industry, yet people continue to whine about them like they've never heard of games having bugs before.
HotU was released as a single player game NOT as multiplayer because Bioware is under the impression that single player is what sells their games. I personally think that is an amazingly flawed view, but I'm just the owner of a PW.
HotU is not designed for PW's because there are insane balance issues and some pretty heinous bugs in the multiplayer portion of the game.
Give them time to fix it and just convert your worlds back to SoU until they do. _________________ Owner/Creator Brynsaar PW(NWN) |

Other then that issue, My module was tested for a week and everything else workes perfectly. I upgraded to HOU and simply limited the players to non-epic levels and was still able to add HOU content. _________________ Silverti Quicksilver Adventure Island NWN Persistent 24X7 PW Story http://www.adv-island.com |

What do we do?!?
The toolset is USELESS at Epic Levels without functional Random Encounters. This is more than a simple bug; rather it is an inherent design flaw. |

You could script your own "epic encounter" triggers using generic triggers and waypoints. Have the triggers spawn an Epic encounter if it detects someone with 21+ levels, and tack them onto the same location as the encounter trigger... you'd then get an "epic" monster and all his lackeys. It's an incomplete solution and requires someone who actually knows scripting (although this would take maybe 30 minutes to script), but it works. Or you can script the Epic creatures to spawn in the OnEnter event of the encounter trigger itself. _________________ "Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist.Children already know that dragons exist.Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed."
