Auteur 1.28 Known Issues and current status

Greetings:

Here are is a list of the Known Issues with 1.28 and their current status:

1. NPC Warping/NPC Poping/WalkWaypoints() Not Working/etc.

This issue has been described in the above different ways. It is important to understand that this is a client-side rendering issue. The NPCs and other objects in the game are in their proper place and behaving properly, it is just that your game client is not rendering them correctly.
Status: fixed and verified


2. Script errors and certain doors not working

There are some area of the official campaign where there are script errors being displayed in the chat window and as a result some doors are not working.
Status: fixed and in testing internally


3. DM Client not displaying all players

In certain situations (usually involving character and DM area transitions) the DM Client will fail to display all the current players in the server.
Status: fixed and in testing internally

Sorry we weren't able to communicate this sooner, but we were all busy working on these issues for the last few days.

The current plan is to address these 3 issues and get a 1.29 Beta out as soon as possible, hopefully next week.

There is also the issue of "Too Many Instructions" appearing in the game log.

It might be advantageous to add a game logging option that parallels the chat logging function. This would allow us to capture this kind of thing, which might assist you in finding the cause.

Has anyone else reported their client rendering extra versions of players? We were playing a multiplayer game tonight with a DM and 4 PCs. One PC kept seeing muyltiple versions of another player, and after awhile everyone but the DM was seeing 3-4 extra, blank portraits.

I think that coresponds to #3 at least I hope it does. I ran a game the other night with 3 players, I couldn;t see one of them, but I did have 3 blank portraits on the screen..makes DMing a little tough

Just as a matter of curiosity, is the bug that crashes your server when a player tries to barter with a NODROP item going to be fixed in 1.29?

I have seen one other strange bug: In the toolset whenever I try to clear a text box (like when you assign a script to an NPC's onDeath) the box will never clear entirely. Instead, the word "resref" appears the moment I delete the last character of whatever used to be in the box. No matter how I try, I can't get the thing blank. This has been sent to the bug list.

Look at the other sticky, there is already an official fix avaible for this.

I think you mean this error, first i thought i was only with me, but after talking with a few friends, they all had the same problem, seems it happens with us mostly within Chapter1, in the Penisula Prison.

One bug that is still present in patch 1.28 is the ability for a character to See Invisible people when a Bow of any kind is equipped.

Test Steps:
Player A has no spells cast on them, and has nothing in hand.
Player B casts invisibility on themself. Player A cannot see Player B.
Player A equips a Bow (Standard Short Composite Bow +3).
Player A can see Player B.
Player A unequips the Bow. Player A can no longer see Player B.
Player B uses the Stealth ability (Hide/Move Silent).
Player A equips a Bow. Player A cannot see Player B.
Player B turns of the Stealth ability (but is still invisible).
Player A can see Player B.

This sounds like equipping a bow (tried several types, some standard, some custom) grants the weilder the ability to See Invisible creatures.

I haven't tried your steps but early on in the release of this game I noticed that I could still see players that were "invisible". I didn't correlate it to the fact I always had a bow in hand at that time but later on I noticed that sometimes I could and sometimes I couldn't see invisible. This kind of explains the problem.

The problem may not be restricted to just bows. You might want to check other types of ranged weapons. I know that ranged weapons on npcs are a major source of stutter in this game for encounters. Especially if one is given to a magic user npc like a wizard, sorcerer, cleric, etc or any multiclassed npc with one of those classess.

Please do NOT start posting about other bugs in this thread. This is not its purpose. This thread is only about the three issues listed above. I have already had to cull this thread of various unrelated posts.

I want to reiterate, that except for the scripting issue, the other two are only a visual problem.

NPC warping is fixed and verified.
