Check the subject.
I've heard alot about the force/prismatic dragon, and I wonder what it is. Like, what CR a great wyrm prismatic/force dragon have, where they come from etc etc.
Thanks alot |

According to my newly acquired ELH, the Great Wyrm Prismatic dragon has a CR of 66, which makes it the most powerful epic level creature in the book.
The Force Dragon's CR for the same age category is 59.. |

Force and Prismatic dragons are found in the Epic Level Handbook, [p182].
Force dragon CR's range from 13 for a wyrmling to 59 for a great wyrm.
Prismatic dragon CR's range from 14 for a wyrmling to 66 for a great wyrm.
Their abilities are too numerous to cover here, but suffice it to say that they are powerful indeed. Even wyrmlings have over 200 hit points and AC's exceeding 30, BAB of +28 and SR of 24+. All have damage reduction of 15/+2 or better, and this increases with age to 60/+15 for prismatic dragons and 60/+12 for force dragons.
Anyway, nassssty.... |

Basically, they're demigod status creatures which would challenge PARTIES of FIFTIETH level characters, and a bunch of munchkin little kiddies want the shifer to be able to turn into them to satisfy what I can only assume to be a God complex. They're quite frankly something I believe was written on a drug trip and whoever was responsible for quality control of that product ought to have been shot. But then, D&D non-core books of 2nd and 3rd edition have had long histories of being collections of ridiculously unbalanced and overpowered crap. Mercurial Sword and Monkey Grip, anyone?

dragonshape, allows to shape into dragons, but it doesnt allow for epic dragons.
your stuck with gold,red,etc.
and yeah the epic dragons are awesome. but anyway most of the time if you run into a force dragon , you might not even know it at its older age it begins to be harder to see. Click Here
the prismatic dragons are more noticable.
both dragons have magical breath weapons , no elemental breath weapons such as fire or acid.
the prismatic dragon breaths a prismatic breath weapon thats effect is simmilirar as certian prismatic spells, such as prisamatic spray.
the force dragons breath is the effect of certain force spells such as wall of force.
both dragons are immune to their prespictive spells.
such as prismatic spray would have little effect ona prismatic dragon.
but then again there is always this guy. Click HereEdited By steelfiredragon on 10/05/03 21:37 |

Yeah, I hear you there. I'd be happy just turning into a Blue or Silver Dragon. While not the most powerful dragon, they've always been my favorites.
But to tell the truth, I'm looking forward to all the epic shapeshift feats equally. Its all about versatility to me. Brute force of a dragon or stealth of a Kobold Commando _________________ Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? |

I don't want to change into any dragon. I'd love to see the look on the faces of a party of 40th level PC's when they ran into one of these though....
In my campaigns (PnP and NWN) you don't fight dragons. You just don't. Well, maybe a very young one who is too inexperienced really to be out and about, but not Klauth for heaven's sake! Epic characters in my campaigns will still be having problems with tackling the good old MM1 dragons, let alone epic dragons. For me these are strictly quest NPC's or roadblocks, not opponents in some hackfest.

With these types of dragons, try
harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted) harm (gets resisted)
PC dies horribly from all of the Attacks of Opportunity....
And, anyway - in my modules dragons are immune to harm...
Like I said - you don't fight dragons in my modules. You just don't. They have very high AC's, 5k~10k hitpoints and extra spellcaster levels, and I usually give their attacks additional massive crit damage as well. Dragons are some of the most feared creatures of mythology, and I'm all for keeping them that way.

Not to mention that if they were done properly, the dragon would likely spend half an hour or so flying up out of your reach and baking/frying/ melting/freezing/ electrifying you with his breath weapon. |

why aynybody would want to turn into an epic dragon is beyond me, dragon shape does NOT allow epic dragons in pnp, nor has bioware even stated that they are in. |
