I live in denmark and after buying hordes, i found out that it cant be played in MP and on the box it only says 20 campaign, nothing about it only being a single player, i am very dissapointed. i have played it in SP and yes it is a good game, but the fun i have in playing NWN and SOU in multiplayer was what made me buy HOTU, and i cant play it in MP. old times pen and paper roleplaying has and will always been a MP experience, so making this game to only single player, is making NWN from a roleplaying computer game to just a computergame, sad but true. i must admit its a great computergame, but there went the roleplaying. too bad cause that was the best computer roleplaying game ever |

Umm...HOTU is a Multiplayer game. I play on Multiplayer almost every day, and I have HOTU.

Nuneren has got a point. Hordes of Underdark does work however, but is a very bugged multiplayer game. At a recent LAN paty several problems occured such as Relic of the Reaper dragging the entire party along, not being able to go down the well, stuck in the first cut scene at the very start etc. Although this is fairly simple to work around, if a little frustrating I think that perhaps some warning may of been helpful towards the community. |

I think he means that the official campaign for HoTU is not meant for multiplayer. |

BioWare felt that, by focusing on the SP aspects of the Official Campaign and ignoring MP compatibility, they could make it a better campaign overall.

It should come as no surprise that Atari (formally Infogrames) has misleading packaging. They are the used car salesmen of the video game industry.
I think Biowares decision to make a single player module was fine.. and Atari's decision not to represent that to the buyer typical.
Next time, be careful when buying an Atari product to make sure it is what you think you are getting. Hopefully in the future Bioware will find a different publisher.

Has Bioware not started to work more with microsoft? Either way, I've run in to a half dozen bugs playing HoU multiplayer with my buddies but oh well ... I stand by Bioware too. How can I be mad at my old hometown boys lol |

On the back of my US box, it says 'For the first time, characters can achieve Epic status (up to Level 40), while braving an all-new, 20-hour single-player campaign.' If yours doesn't say that, then... um... yell at Atari. A lot. As they do the box writing, I believe.
And remember that it's just the campaign that is single-player. The epic levels, the spells, the feats, the new toolset stuff and so on can be used fine multiplayer. Mmm. |

They also said that the non us editions MIGHT have the old box. Mine says single player game. _________________ “Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.”

But still, if anybody installs and plays the game, the 'Multiplayer' button is in crystal clear view, whatever language it's in. _________________ -- Builder, Writer, Scripter, and DM of NWSigil: The multiplayer PW Planescape project. Click Here to learn more. |
