The assassin is the master of dealing quick, lethal blows and excels at infiltration and disguise. One of five new Prestige Classes added in Shadows of Undrentide, assassins often function as spies, informants, killers for hire, or agents of vengeance. Their training in anatomy, stealth, poison, and the dark arts allows them to carry out missions of death with shocking, terrifying precision.

Yup, finally we will be able to play as Jason Vorhees and Michael Myers *LOL*
Now, i think the choices bioware made for the Assassin are clever, although i miss the spell list... They should have a small spell list like the paladins for example.
Otherwise, the death attack seems to be cool enough, and their resistance towards poison is also fair enough.
The Assassin seems fairly powerfull, considering the demands to become one. Tumbs up _________________ Indeed there is a fourth dimension, I have visited the fifth myself |

And it's another evil-characters-only class. Dammit! Ever heard something that assassinating another person itself isn't neccessariliy an evil act? |

Hmm will the death attack stack with the normal sneak attack? Also do you need attacks of opportunity for it to work? How bout the stun feature...I mean how difficult will it be to save against? Answers to these are going to be a major factor on whether the class is valuable overall or not.
Almost sounds like being a pure thief would be better. I am assuming most people will multi with the rogue class before becoming an assassin. Why not just stay a rogue and take the extra rogue feats? Improved evasion, slippery mind, crippling strike, and opportunist seem far superior to what the assassin class has to offer. As for spells, you only get 2 and most thieves can buy scrolls to use (depending on the server). Maybe the paralyzation will make it more worth while. |

I agree, this is cool for RP mostly, and the death attack is nice, but not really worth 10 char lvls to me for a few extra saves you dont use very often. _________________ "Duty is everything; the greatest of joys, the deepest of sorrows." - Lady Aribeth de Tylmarande |

Wow, very nice. I will definitly play the new game through with this. If only they had an Assassin Prestige Class for characters with a good alignment... _________________ www.toadywonders.com

Yes, yes, yes, this means I can take it with only 5 levels of rogue to make my rogue/assassin/shadowdancer as I had hoped. |

The whole evil thing was a bad choice by WoTC a long time ago. Most assassins if you think about it would be neutral by default. The standard assassin would be a freelance rogue available to the highest bidder. You could adjust saying he only takes certain jobs, seeks and inner balance, etc etc blah blah.
Evil only makes it seem like he is a murderer, not an assassin. Oh well, looks like an immediate target for hak/Leto/creature skin manipulation etc etc. |

I am almost positive the sneak attacks and death attacks will stack. The spells are nice, because the scrolls might not be easily available, and now you don't have to worry about stocking up/spending money. As for the stun on death attack, I really hope the DC check goes up with lvls. I can't see why it wouldn't. If the DC gets into the 20s with a lvl 10 Assassin, this could be amazingly deadly. If they are stunned, thats going to be a lot of free sneak attacks. I doubt it will take an AoO, it should be like normal sneak attacks. I just wander what the DC will be against. Fort? Will? Reflex maybe? That will be a big key. _________________ ~Whoever said its not whether you win or lose probably lost~ |
