Game Version: 1.31 SoU Game Language: English Processor Manufacturer: AMD Processor Type: Athlon Processor Speed: XP 2000 Operating System XP System RAM: 512 megs Video Card Manufacturer: Nvidia Video Card Model: Geforce 4 Ti 4600 Video Card RAM: 128 megs Video Card Driver Version: 6.13.10.2980 Sound Card Manufacturer: Creative Labs Sound Card Model: SB Audigy 2 Sound Card Driver Version: 5.12.1.324 Problem Description: My Module became corrupted yesterday after I worked on a number of area transitions. The Mod will only begin to load and then it sends you to the choose character option but will not allow you to start. When I load my back up (3 weeks old *kicks self*) it runs fine but takes about 30 secs to load, this is a 14 MB file. I have gone back and deleted all the areas I worked in one at a time and individually from each other but was unable to find the offender. I just tried copying in the areas from the corrupt Mod to the working one to try it that way and got an error message
Access Violation at address 006C883F in module 'nwtoolset.exe' Read of address 33676166.
It was my hope I could copy over the areas exported from the bad Mod into my backup until I found the bad one.
Any advice on how I should proceed, I really hate to lose all that work. |

SoU toolset runs like a slug. This is a known issue. If I were you, I'd wait for the first SoU patch which would be version 1.31 before continuing to work on your module. Be thankful you can actually run the game. |

About that Access Violation... Try updating your video card drivers... Go to http://www.nvidia.com and download the most updated driver. Or, check out http://www.guru3d.com and download version 41.09 of the Detanator Driver... It says it's OpenGL 1.2 compliant, but I have found that the toolset runs a lot better when you use a driver has at least OpenGL 1.4 kicking about. I couldn't use the toolset for the longest time because of that little problem, and using the drivers provided from the video card manufacturer is not really the best way to go, which I believe is what you have installed, correct?
Who made your card by the way, was it Asus, MSI, etc.. etc..? _________________ "Through me you pass into the city of woe, through me you pass into eternal pain. Just to verify what EmperorYan said, I was experiencing an Access Violation as well, downloaded the updated driver from ati.com, and haven't recieved a single error since the install.

This problem traced back to a toolset crash that occured while I was deleting a blueprint for a creature. Had to kill the Toolset and when i restarted I allowed it to recover data. BIG MISTAKE everyone I have talked to say s that allowing the toolset to recover data after a crash is a quick road to a corrupted mod. I have gone back to my old backup and built back to the point I was at before. Still get the access Violation error when I import, but mod is no longer corrupt.
In Short NEVER ALLOW THE TOOLSET TO RECOVER DATA AFTER A CRASH!!! |
