Maximus over at Neverwinter Vault has created a series of viewlet tutorials that many have been waiting for: an introduction into the murky world of scripting. The series of lessons have been crafted to introduce what scripting is, how it can enhance a module, and covers the systems of the Aurora NWN Toolset all the way up to scripting actions and special effects. Simply sit back and watch the tutorials unfold!

The Scripting FAQ & Tutorial sticky over in the scripting forum and The NWN Lexicon have long been, and still are, invaluable scripting resources. Check them out.

My problem with this is that a introduction to scripting has been on the NWVault site for donkeys years. If you click on the "PRE-NWN scripting course", you will get the course I took and that taught you all the basics of scripting based around what little info BioWare gave out. I learnt how to script using that tutorial, I fail to see why you lot couldn't have.

Because Kel-nage, THESE viewlets are SO much easier to understand then the other tuts that are out there.

Combine this with Lilac Soul's script generator and novice scripters will be able to do many things themselves AND learn in the process.

Maximus, In your first Object lesson (Lesson 6), when you show how to Create the girl, The script does not show any quotes ( "" ) around the TAG of the waypoint. The Line shows,
location lLocation = GetLocation( GetObjectByTag( NW_WAYPOINT001));

Just wanted to note that, some questions may come up as the script won't compile. Or was this a test to see if they were paying attention in Lesson 3?

Greate Job btw, looks great and should help the new scripters a lot.

these tutorials are well put together and easy to use, but they only confirm what i thought before: this whole scripting system is friggin greek, no worse than greek, it's sanskrit! if i wanted to go through all this hastle to create a module i would have become a programmer and developed my own complete game system. that's a lot of crap to go through just to have a kid say there's 2 dogs in neverwinter. i'm about ready to delete the whole game from my hard drive and go back to playing diablo.

Didn't you read the part on the box that says you can plug a USB cable into your ear and just "think" up a new game with absolutely no effort on your part??
