The Neverwinter Community is sustained by the passion and commitment of role-players, artists, designers, writers, and technical professionals and amateurs using their skill and dedication to take Neverwinter in new and unimagined directions. We caught up with Herner, the grand high overlord over at Lands of Lore, to talk about his thriving Neverwinter community that has grown with Neverwinter over the last year.

Herner is indeed a great guy. I knew him long before his Lands of Lore days. I am sure he remembers the good times we had on a GreyHawk PW back when NWN first came out. He sure has come a long way since then. He is a man who is truly dedicated to his work. Keep it up Hern.

I've just finished a week of online play on LOL and i would have to say it is a great RPing server. Only complaints from me is the lag issue. But with 60 or so players connecting, lag can be expected. The content he has added and the tradeskills are very well done, a beautiful landscape with it. |

I spent most of this past weekend (Aug 15-17) trying to play in LOL.
The key phrase is trying. The concept is great, however I was unable to stay in the game for more than 20 minutes all weekend before being dropped by a non-responsive server.
Additionally, there did not seem to be a whole lot in the way of instructions about to get a new player started (at one point, when I entered the game, I was simply in a room with a locked door and no visible means of exiting). Similarly, there are no instructions anywhere in game regarding mining or smelting ores for crafting.
I also believe there needs to be some attention to saving characters more often. At one point, after finally figuring out how to earn a bit of coin, I was engaged in combat..... down to 50% of my hit points, I attempted to drink a heal potion........ however, at that point, lag hit, and then I was dropped by the server. In the process, I lost everything I had gained and was returned to the small room once the server became available again.
A persistant world means one that is available for a significant length of time.... not one that sputters and dies every 15/20 minutes.

I gave LoL another try this weekend and must say that the server seemed to be more stable until the middle of the afternoon and into the early evening (EDT).
Game play was much smoother (if a bit laggy through the hours noted above).
I'm not sure if you did anything to fix the server or if the previous week's problems were related to the power outtage however this weekend was definately a more enjoyable experience.
