The gargoyle puzzle in the "Puzzler's Sepulcher" area of Chapter 3 in the Hordes of the Underdark expansion is not working in Linux (v1.61). Until this is fixed in a patch, to get past the final step of the puzzle, do the following once you have done everything you need to solve the puzzle:

1. Enter the console command "DebugMode 1"
2. Enter the console command "dm_setvarint ready 1"
3. Click on the 'final' lever.
4. Enter the console command "DebugMode 0"

To enter a console command, hit the ~ key to access the console, or enter the command in the chat area preceded by ##

I tried the Linux fix, the beams shoot at the door - nothing happens!!!! Get the message "That didn't work, there must be something wrong here". I pulled all the levers, now am stuck. Any ideas?

In that case, you probably haven't solved the puzzle yet. Search the HotU Official Campaign forum for hints if you can't get it, I won't give any spoilers here.

Alternatively, updating to 1.62 Beta 1 will resolve this issue.

Dear Bioware Mods,

I just wanted to give you a personal "thanks" for seeming to be interested in the Linux Market. I really am glad that there's actually a gaming company that's taking to heart the idea that Linux Gamers want to be involved.

This may just be a message in a million, but thanks very much,

Iced

Wow that was a frustrating puzzle, I had it solved the first time but...

Thanks for posting the workaround, I can go back to the game now... and thanks for making it work on Linux, tis the sole reason I bought NWN.

Another thanks.

And to mention the impact of supporting Linux....
Because NWN supports Linux,I bought 7 copies of NWN (5 for the family and 2 for freinds birthdays), 3 copies of SOU and one of the birthday guys bought SOU, and I bought 2 copies of HOU and the birthday guy got one copy. Plus I have been running an online server (on Linux) 24/7 for over a year. I got NWN because it runs on Linux. Only reason.

Because I'm a computer geek (who else buys 5 computers for his family?) it's natural that I am into Linux. Supporting it has gotten me to throw all my geek influence behind it and also build a large module for everyone to play. It pains me to use the Toolset in Emulation, but I understand. Maybe we'll get the Toolset in NWN 2 eh? Anyways, you've certainly got your milage out of Linux support I assure you.

A heartfelt thanks! You guys ROCK!

THANK YOU!!
I really needed this workaround! I do not tend to have good luck with beta versions of anything and so I'm hesitant to use the 1.62b as a solution.

Thanks for posting this.

Now back to the game!

I haven't had to use this work around, I don't think anything is wrong with the linx vrs., I had to figure out why it was not working. I won't put a spoiler in here, but you do not need this "work around". you just have to think what needs to be changed. this was on a mac using the linx updater, but I assume the same rules will apply.

I had the bug, but there's acertain amulet that can be exploited to get through the door. No Debugmode necessary.

This issue is resolved by updating to 1.62 (or 1.62 beta 2 for non-English versions).
