Now that a week's gone by, I thought this might be a good time and place to start a listing of the various CEP-compatible persistent worlds out there. If you're running one where CEP is required, post here and tell us a little about how you're putting it to use.
Cheers, Rob Bartel Senior Designer BioWare Community Live Team
PS - I did a rough count of the various download sources this morning and the CEP has had over 50,000 downloads in its first week. Congratulations to everyone involved and to the community for embracing it. |

I'll just copy/paste what I posted on our guild forum here and if anyone else from our development team wishes to add to it, they certainly can :
"As many of you likely know by now, the Moonshae Isles development team has taken a bold step towards rebuilding our little PW mod from scratch without haks. However, soon after this unanimous decision, the CEP (Community Expansion Pack) team announced their scheduled release of well....the CEP v1.0. We were all very excited about the potential of this long overdue concept, but once it was released and we had a little look-see at the great, quality content, we were simply floored! To not make use of the CEP would be a HUGE step backwords for any NWN mod. Needless to say, we will be utilizing the CEP in our mod to its fullest potential. I believe I speak for everyone on the Moonshae Isles development team when I say thank you CEP team and keep up the astounding work!"
Also, I feel that in recreating a detailed realm like the Moonshae Isles, a quality hak pack like the CEP will prove essential in expounding upon a developer's freedom and accuracy. _________________ Come visit The Moonshae Isles HCR PW RP Realm. Verandia has been around for about 6 months now, originally it used Lisa's Clothes, however after talking with the players and discussing what great additions CEP would bring to the game we decided to have it implemented immediately.
Currently we are using a few of the monsters and some of the placeables, adding more all the time. All of the weapons are available with a variety of mundane and magical versions of each. The new heads and portraits are just starting to get into heavy use. The clothing and armor additions are also just starting to get into heavy use. The players are really enjoying the additions and looking forwards to future releases.
Here's a quick summary of what the world is like:
"Verandia is a growing and shifting city set within the Forgotten Realms world of Faerun, played on a Persistent World server. Three opposing houses, all of which seek to rule the city and surrounding lands, war with each other within the city. Each of the houses has their own unique ideal as to how Verandia should be, and how it should get there. Players find themselves in a unique place, where they may use their actions to shape the future of the city and its happenings to their own wishes.
Verandia is located under PW Story as Verandia [CEP HCR]" |

My "action" world, Jackal Lands "Wreckage of Heroes" is still in its infancy, but has 160+ areas so far. While not part of the Forgotten Realms, it shares many of it's deities. The world on my server at the moment does not use the CEP. But i am working on the CEP version, adding a lot of creature and placeable content. Hopefully i can have the "WoH" CEP edition up and running in the next few weeks. Although i have a feeling it may be a bit longer (a lot of scenery stuff to add). My thanks to the CEP staff for their excellent efforts, the Jackal Lands shall benefit greatly from it. _________________ Jackal |

I've been designing CarfaxAbbey.net since neverwinter first came out (and planning before that). Since then, I've been adamant that we wouldn't use haks. I'm glad we held off, because now we've updated to the CEP. It took about 36 hours straight to do the conversion.

The World of Talus has officially added the CEP. Since I wanted the creatures available for quests and what not, I added it, did some area changing, and put it in place. Ongoing updates will alter more and more of the module, but naturally, changing 700 areas takes a bit of time. Also, note this is home to the non-npc based listener emote system with tremendous flexibility, so join the server sometime, and say *help* in talk for a list of menus of things to say that do things.

In an ominous portent.... tonight, Thursday, April 1st we'll be giving the CEP a go.
Information and links to the 3 smallish haks can be found in the lower link (to the guild) in my signature - the in the newest "news" item.
AT the moment we've just integrated the CEP to play nice with our existing content (lots of which was in the CEP anyways)... but more CEP content will be integrated into the PW over the coming days. _________________ A Distant World Guild & Info (Open to all) Click Here

Hello all! I'm anouncing my semi-persistant world. Portown: Adventures on the Wild Coast. It's set in the World of Greyhawk. I call it semi-persistant because it's not fully completed but I just converted what I do have over to the CEP Hak. (Very good job, BTW!!) It currently uses the CEP and 4, smaller haks and you can down load them from my web page (link below). I'll be adding new screenshots shortly. The server name and game spy info is there also. I used the CEP mostly for the weapons, item icons, and placables. I have used some of the CEP monsters and intend to find room for other monsters soon. Thanks again. Hi, our world Terrapin went CEP on the weekend.
We are a young PW in the Action room. The place is large with areas beeing added on a regular basis. Two Admins who play on a regular basis. We have a core group of regulars and a few others on and off.
We just added a 35-40 level area using the CEP so that the higher levels have somthing to look foward to. We are going to be working the CEP into the rest of the world as we get around to it.
Check out the map and the forums. _________________ Harley

My semi-PW Dreamlands will be using the CEP begining this evening (friday the 2nd). One of the primary builders has already added quite a bit of CEP stuff to the town PCs start in. We are building out new areas and enhancing old ones with the CEP.
Dreamlands can be found in the Roleplay section on Gamespy. Currently SOU, HotU, and the CEP are required to play on the server. If you would like to use the CEP heads and portraits please place those items in the override directory on your machine. We are working on a server side fix... but no promises on that
We do not require player applications. We do require that people roleplay and try to stay in character. We also suggest *strongly* that they read the background material on this website and on the server in order to enhance your and others experience.
As stated in the rules please do not use the "Shout" channel as this is a roleplayer server. Party chat can be used at DM's discretion. If no DM is on please do not use party chat.
The mod currently contains somewhere between 80-150 areas. The tone of the world is based on the Eternal Champion books of Michael Moorcock, primarily the worlds of Elric and Corum. Outside of that the world should seem fairly familiar to D&D folks, but with a bit of a twist due to the background...
Persistence: We currently use the database functions of NWN to keep some information and continuity on the server. We also add things to the mod every week as the "history" of PC events has its impact on the mod.
Experience Points: Experience follows TTV rules and is roughly 2.5% of the DMG's xp for killing creatures outside of quests. While DM's are on experience is awarded for Roleplay and for completing quests. A DM event will usually result in 500 - 2000 xp for a PC depending on the event difficult and what is achieved.
Resting: Resting is limited to once every 10 minutes of real time unless you are in a "safe rest area". While you rest you will be temporarily blinded and snore. If you rest outside of a "safe rest area" you will only recover an amount of HP equal to your level. There is also a 1 in 3 chance that a random encounter will occur, so keep someone on watch and be very sure you need to rest if you are in a dangerous area.
Death Penalty: 200/level for PC's under 5th level and 1000/level xp for everyone else for respawning. In addition you will lose all the gold you have and some random items. We are still adjusting the XP penalty and the 1000 loss per level might be lowered.
Amount of Magic: This PW is a fairly low magic world. Master work items, potions, and scrolls are fairly common, but really powerful magic items are rare and tend to contain bound demons or other powerful forces that have a will of there own...
Suggestions for New Players New players should try talking to the distiller and Cathal to get started. They both have small fairly easy quests to complete. Folks tend to congregate by the fire in Oban and in the White Wolf Inn in Oban.
DM run events: We try to run at least 1 official DM run event every weekend. The time usually is 9pm PST Friday evening. A thread will be posted on the forums letting you know the title and the gist of the event. Please let the DM's know who to expect if you'd like to participate so they can work out the hooks for your PC and other things.
Server Uptime: Currently the server is up all weekend from Friday afternoon until early Sunday/Monday morning. These hours may be adjusted if players express an interest, hardware is available and DM's have the time. But we are committed to being up all weekend long.
(sorry if that is a bit long ) _________________ Usheen (Dreamlands DM & Builder) Dreamlands. Look for us in the PW Story section... |

Almeria on PW Story is running the CEP and no other haks. It is currently a closed (guild members only) module, but applying for the guild is not difficult. Almost every system on the world is custom, including a rest system that involves tents and possible random encounters, a death system that allows you to choose how you are raised should you respawn, and a guild system (still in the works). The module is very large, and is still nowhere near total completion. _________________ Almeria -- a role-playing persistent world -- in testing/development

The Myth Drannor PW is currently converting to add the CEP and reduce hak pack size.
I may be using it on my Gatecrashers PW as well. I'm not entirely certain yet, however. We need to finish auditing the CEP contents first. We've heard a lot of complaints that the CEP team didn't actually follow one of their primary rules -- regarding quality of content.
If there's any crappy and crummy content in the CEP, we'll use hak paks instead. As a project manager, I'm of the state of mind that you should never make available to your builders anything that is sub-standard.
Having things available and saying 'Don't use A, B, and F' just does NOT work. I learned that much on MD. When you have dozens of builders contributing to a project, it's best to just make sure they only have hak content and erfs containing what you will allow. They won't ever remember if you have rules banning use of certain things. We've been building and managing servers for over a year now, and even with standing rules of 'Never use anything out of the standard bioware toolset palletes aside from tilesets' you STILL get people putting standard bioware creature templates down in encounters, or standard bioware item templates in shops.
(No offense to Biodudes, but your standard content is mostly singleplayer-focused, and not really appropriate for most PW servers. All our creatures use custom templates so we can adjust and tweak them for balancing purposes or make sure they follow their DMG stats as closely as possible. And we have thousands of custom item templates, so there is no need to use bioware items that are overpowered, or have ugly names. On MD we don't like "Swords +3". You'd find a 'Mithril Rapier (Dweomored)' or a 'Masterwork Longsword' instead. )
So we'll have to complete a full audit of the CEP to decide if it really is up to standard content-wise. If there is crap in there, we likely won't use the CEP and will go entirely with Haks instead, so we have complete control over what our builders have at their disposal.
I think the CEP is a fantastic idea. I'll be extremely disappointed if it's true that they didn't live up to their own goals and ideals for quality.
