Looking for a new way to play NWN beyond the single player game? The DM Client offers a unique experience in computer gaming. As DM, you do more than play the game, you are the game. You provide the adventure, moderate events, and help make a story come alive for your players. How do you become a DM? A good start would be reading the advice of Arawen Silverstar, head of the DM-Friendly Initiative and a DM at Neverwinter Connections.

Sadly, the link to the DM 101 course in that article appears to be broken. _________________ Trazik |

Hi Trazik,
Sorry to hear the link wasn't working for you. You're trying to visit this link right? It works for me right now. Please try it again. _________________ Johnn Four BioWare Web Monkey #4 Mass Effect - BioWare's sci-fi action RPG now availableEdited By Johnn Four on 08/19/04 17:16 |

Yes, that's the one thanks.
I wasn't aware this was a NWCon event. I was hoping to take the course myself, but the timing is very bad for me, being outside North America.
If anyone does have a DM course/document/whatever that is not fixed to, or timed with some event, please consider posting a link in this thread. _________________ Trazik |

NWN University is not tied to NWCon, and NWN University does host GMT-friendly events. You do have to join www.neverwinterconnections.com but only so you can register for a NWN University session. There is also a NWN University forum at Click Here and general NWC forums at http://www.neverwinterconnections.com/forums

What? DM 101 is a basic introduction to the NWN DM Client. We assume you have never even explored this area of the game yet, although even experienced DMs have found a few valuable nuggets of information in the class.
Where? We will schedule the class/game like all others on NWC. They will be Open Games and fill up on a first come, first served basis.
When? These classes run several times per month. Usually every other Tuesday night during the hours of 8p and 12a Eeastern Time. We also run classes for people in GMT friendly time zones on Sundays, again usually twice a month. The class runs for 60-90 minutes depending on the group and the questions/grasp of the material.
Why? To encourage more games on NWC and to show potential DMs how fun and easy the client is. The Process After you get signed up to the game, when it comes time for the game.. logon to the specified ip AS a DM, please create a DM with your NWC Nickname. Once you log-in, have a seat and when the time arrives we will begin.. we do an intro, go over the class rules and jump right in... In the class you will perform a series of tasks to make sure you are following the material covered... when we get done... you and hopefully a few others should be ready to run your own adventure with ease on NWC. The NWN DM Client is very flexible and powerful... after the DM 101 you should be able to perform all of the basic tasks required to begin running your own adventures. And as in any environment for learning usually we ALL learn something in each session.
For a self-paced DMing guide, check out the NWC Community Guide for DMing. Click Here
But since you mentioned NWCon, NWCon 2.5 will be on September 25 & 26, and it will have DMed events, IRC events, and more. As Arawen's article mentioned, host a game and you will get players. The DMFI mods are very well prepared for DMing, and many many experienced DMs are willing to take on learner DMs. |

Neverwinter University (NWU) usually offers courses on the last Tuesday of the month, with the next set of DM101 expected August 31, 2004.
Watch the page on the link and when the DM101 instructors schedule the actual courses, they will be listed on the NWU page at Neverwinter Connections. Once they are listed sign ups are first come, first serve. Commonly, DM101 courses are offered in a variety of timezones, including GMT.

I received a PM asking about which voice chat program to use with NWN.
I use TeamSpeak for NWN DM team voice chat.
It works very smoothly with NWN and it's free at www.teamspeak.org.
