I wonder why hasnt anyone taken under their wings to create a setting of japan in the 1600-1800 period of samurais. If somene has please tell me This setting could be used to so many things like Dm quests (example farmers rioting for high taxes) and clan battles between the generals. And many other things. It could also have a working economy by lowering or zeroing the amount of magical items and weapon drops/shops should be rare, now this would increase the number of smiths(pcs) and their income and to keep it running they would have to pay taxes to the landlord(whom should be a pc also). well the thing im trying to say that the samurais wouldnt lose a bit to drizzt dourden and the FR and the amount of work would also be reduced by all the samurai/commoner/ninja etc oriental models you can dl:) and sorry for all the misspells in this topic. |

I don't currently know of any except for the one I'm building. Khitai is a new area slated to be added to the Hyborian Age server within a couple of months or so ...maybe sooner...but we're waiting on haks for interiors.. Anyway, if you want to come and check out what will soon be Old Hyboria at www.hyborian-age.com then we can keep you posted on our progress and you might have some fun gaming in the meantime.
Hope to see you there, Meta _________________ www.hyborian-age.com |

I agree that there isn't many mods like this. I wonder why there isn't a mod based on Raymond feist books set during the riftwar. It would be such a perfect setting. 2 worlds (one midkemia sword and sorcery and second empire of tsuranami samurai type warriors, sorcerers and eastern culture). I think when NWN2 comes out I will think about making mod based on Feist's fantasy books. |

Hyborian is a fantasy mod right`? not oriental? correct me if im wrong please. Ive been wondering would it be that hard to make? After all you got pretty much material to use and the timeline could be somewhere between 1500-1600 when the samurais were very active. I also considered that it would be alot more balanced by making it so that there were no magical weapons and other such things like wands etc etc ( dont know if it would work ). The PW could be split into regions all run by a DM general and then there would be one DM playing a Shogun.
I dont know, just some ideas. I think we should try realistic for a while instead of fantasy. It could be alot of fun if heavily RPd also. |

Hyboria is a Conan/fantasy based mod but the world of Conan has many continents, one of which is Khitai (the oriental one) Most likely based upon Qara-Khitai of the monguls/ homeland china invasion/repulsion Great Wall of China story and such....now, historically China didn't have samurai but in Howard's books this was so. So it's included in the mod....
A historically accurate mod would be interesting and if you wish to develop it....I know that Rokugan has some stuff on NW Vault and we at Hyboria have some oriental tileset haks....I could get the download destination for those for you if you would like...however, you would be hung up as I am by the completion of the tiles for interiors which should be out soon.....keep in touch if you want the finished product and I will provide the links as I get them.
