hey all,
todays question is about PvP and areas. the question itself is, 'is it possible to have different PvP settings in the same area? ie: one part of an area where PvP is allowed and in another part of the same area where PvP is not allowed?'i was considering posting this in the toolset forum but decided on scripting because i was thinking maybe i could make a trigger to change PvP settings onentered or something along those lines. but i didnt find any functions that dealt with PvP. did i miss them? or are there none? TIA for any help provided.

Thats because there are no pvp settings functions, you cant switch pvp settings on or off via scripting, there are probably crazy ways around it but none that I can think would be worth bothering with

Not sure if this would work but you could try this with a big trigger place where you want the area to be no pvp and have these scripts it the correct trigger events, not sure if it will even work though but you get the idea behind it

Better use ClearAllActions( TRUE) in Scar's script since the guy is in combat or it will not stop the attack. Also I don't think his idea will stop spell casting from within the trigger, and I'm pretty sure the PC will be able to get one shot off before his actions are canceled, then get another shot, etc. as long as he keeps trying to attack...

I think you will need more than just those scripts to get what you want.

PS: "Crazy" is fine with me if it gives the desired result- a Full PvP area in a No PvP listed world on Gamespy... *continues to hope, for without hope there is... no hope.*

I am sorry you find it hard to believe me or you just dont like hearing a fact, but believe me theres absolutely no way you can do what you are asking in your other post. This post is a completely different case entirely. Let me ask you something, how do you suppose you could allow a player to attack another player in a no pvp area when there are is no functionality in scripting that allows the modifying the setting? Theres not even a function that will return wether an area is pvp or not. Believe me, I have fixed over 15 of biowares broken spell scripts that allow players to be able to kill with spells in no pvp areas.

Yes, it is possible to be able to cast spells at a player in a no pvp area as you already must know, but theres no way to allow a player to physically attack another player in a no pvp area.

ScarFace have you posted those fixes anywhere, like on the vault maybe? I would like to see them and maybe use them in my PW if you don't mind (I will give you full credit of course)

Sure, here you go:

Scarface's No PVP Exploit Fixes

The time stop spell has been replaced by my own version, its not global (it doesnt effect the whole server), you can set the distance radius for those to be effected.

And I appologize for saying that theres no way to get round the no pvp prob in this post, As staed in the other post on this subject it is possible if you want to run a second module with an active portal seperating the two.
