This is one tough mofo. I have tried a couple of henchman. I'm a level 9 ranger and I summon a bear and badger to help. His spells are just dynamite and every time I take down his magical barrier, he just erects another one. So I can never hit him for HP damage. What can I do? he just doesn't run out of speels. I've killed everything else besides him, but he kicks ***. I even have a fire resistance clock for 15 percent reduction, but nothing matters. Ican't hardly drink potions quick enough to stay alive. Any help would be greatly appriciatied.
Also, what is the diseased hand I found in the crypts good for? |

I think the hand is for one of the henchman quests (the evil monk guy, can never remember his name), but I don't know what to say about the fight. Edited By Forever_Rose on 01/28/06 15:49 |

Fighter-type? Do you have Knockdown? Even a lich can't cast spells while lying on his back.

That would be the Stoneskin. It blocks most physical damage. Can you inflict elemental damage?
Quote: he just doesn't run out of speels.
He will, eventually, but it's often better to take him out before that happens.
Quote: I even have a fire resistance clock for 15 percent reduction, but nothing matters.
So the cloak grants 15% immunity to fire? You called the cloak "resistance", and then mentioned "reduction", but those are different from immunity. (Of the three, only immunity operates with a percentage.)
Is it fire that's killing you?
Personally, I would try the elemental damage and see how well that works. |

Knockdown haste potion buffs and POTIONS OF CLARITY cos the little sod mind spells you. Take plenty of healing potions and be prepared to teleport. Keep hitting and if your mates die regroup at Tyr's temple. You can rest but the Bro' can't, a major glitch that means npc spellcasters are one trick ponies you can simply hack to death. Weather the storm of the magic and keep hitting the stoneskin. He is perhaps the toughest fight of Chapter 2 so..be prepared for an epic. You expected it to be easy? He's a lich of the hood.. |

I just did that...first lured all his help to follow me around the corner to a salivating Grimnuts the Monk...then we gave the now solo-Toras the ol' evil Monk from the front and Thief from behind with Namarra and Feyduster...poor bastard didn't stand a chance...but yeah spell resistant crap were the way to go also...I believe I had the Golden Circlet Helmet on big Spell resist... :shade: |

The best strategy I could find was setting up an ambush on the bridge leading to Toras' crypt, and then luring him out.
I would buff Grimnaw with Potions of Speed, Clarity, and Barkskin (if you didn't have Stoneskin), and have him attack Toras.
At the same time, you positioned on the bridge starting hitting Toras with spells or missile weapons and be ready to port out of there. |

Also, what is the diseased hand I found in the crypts good for? The Mummified Hand is to be given to Grimnaw at Kendrick's Barracks as a henchie sub-quest.
Well, I was gonna advise you how to do this but you're almost there.
Ok. I'll try.
To beat this guy means taking out the others one at a time by luring them out with a ranged weapon and finishing them off with a melee weapon. Brother Toras cannot harm you if he cannot see you.
The trick with Brother Toras is that you have to take him by surprise. This guy will cast Death Magic on you and frankly, the longer this fight goes on, the worse it becomes for you.
Therefore, retreat. Go get Grimnaw to assist as a henchie.
Now, use potions of invisibility and haste and rush Toras. Just melee him to death. He can only cast so many spells and only at one of you. You just have to wear him down or at least disrupt his concentration. |
