Below is the compatibility matrix for CEP and NWN
NWN 1.66 requires CEP 1.52 NWN 1.67 requires CEP 1.53 NWN 1.68 requires CEP 1.68 * Click Here
* The patch comes in two flavors: one backwards compatible with the old CEP cloaks and once compatible with the new BioWare cloaks
Not running the required version of CEP for a patch WILL cause gameplay and problems:
BioWare will not fix or react to any reported issues running CEP as it is unsupported community content and incompatible with BioWare's quality and implementation standards. If you encounter weird gameplay behavior or bugs running CEP, you will need to contact the CEP team for resolution. _________________ georg zoeller senior rules and systems monkey [da | me] My custom NWN content

I don't know who complained to you about the patch and you releaseling the 1.68. Those of us who use CEP know that only until you release the final verizon of the patch, could the team then go in and work with it and fix what was causing CEP 1 not to work with it.
The CEP team is hard at work this weekend, making sure that there patch for 1.68 works. I know myself I've tested that patch, and like the rest of the people, I'm waiting on it to be released.
If someone has complaned to you, then they really don't understand what CEP is about, and that it's not part of the orginal game.
CEP is a HAK, it's a group of people taken all the haks out there that others have made and putting them together in one download. This helps people who build modes and play on them, have only one HAK to download instead of a million downloads.
(I had to at one time download 25 haks, just to visit this one sever where friends of mine are)
Bioware is not part of the CEP, but they give a helping hand when they can to inform the rest of us, that something is ready, for us to have.
Bioware, heard the cry of the people over the last four years about having capes on there armor. So Bioware listened, to the players. They did something for the players that they didn't have to do.
Now, if a mod doesn't use CEP then those capes are nice to have, but if they do use CEP then there is a conflict and it's not up to Bioware to fix that conflict. |

It is sad but there seems to be developing some bad blood between developers, custom content developers, and now Neverwinter 2.
Come on folks, "can't we all just get along" (night sticks start to swing). I remember when this game first came out and the comradery between all these groups was outstanding. We all realized that Neverwinter Nights was the best thing that ever happened to the gaming world. Never before have people had the ability to make a game truly what they want. The soon release of Neverwinter 2 and CEP version 2 are not headaches that need to be squashed, no. Let’s not forget that all your hard work is only continuing to make what has been and will continue to be, the best role playing game every developed. Let’s not lose sight of that. Let’s get back in step and all simply agree to disagree again and take a breather here (if you can).
Thank you all, for making my free time something to really look forward to. Thank you for allowing me and my friends to excitedly create events and a world that people love to visit. Perhaps it is just me, but I see this game and its great things only getting better, not worse. I hope that I can say the same for continued corporation and understanding between all the various groups who work hard on this game, whether it is development, DM’ing events, or creating worlds and modules. |

well, i think it's reasonably understandable that some people can be a bit 'disappointed' that they have been riding the CEPv2 wave since what, january or febuary? I remember 'soon' being mentioned five months ago. I would have liked to have this stuff to work with sometime before the NWN2 toolset release. Yes, I know they've been working very hard on this for the better part of the year, and I for one don't sit around bellyaching about it, but theatening people with you internet night stick out here without being a reply to anything in this thread is a tad bit misplaced. |

Check out some of the other threads. It looks like CEP2 is within days of release, after some unexpected problems (like cloaks) took it back to the workshop. |

I know, i've been waiting withbated breath and reading all the posts. I also see that the NWN2 toolset is scheduled to release thursday night at midnight. Unfortunately, i am going to have to at least try to port my mod over to NWN2 at that time so I can decide whether it's feasable/worthwhile. if it works out, that means that all the emotional inventment and support I've had with CEPv2 goes *poof*. This isn't to say I would have done anything substantially different than the CEP group (other than limiting it's size and not making a 1.53/1.54 patch) and that at most, i could have seen it come out maybe a couple months early. that's only theory, i'm not sitting in their chairs, so i can only say that more likely than not they have done the best possible job ANYONE could have done, in pretty much the best possible time.
But it looks like it's too late for me, which makes me very, very sad. I will undoubtably load it up and look at the pretty emitter shields (desinitly my main favorite item in the upcoming release) but as a builder, i don't have the luxury of enjoying it while I wait for NWN2 online server of note to become available. I have to spend my time trying to build a NWN2 online server of note.
Again, Great job by the CEP team, above and beyond, most possible cudos distributed. Doesn't mean i'm not disappointed with the timing, and doesn't mean that i should be chastized along with others for our disappointment, while not attacking or besmirching the characters of the CEP team. It is too much to expect the CEP team to do the same for NWN2, but it is my sincere hope that they choose to, because they are a great, hardworking and kind group of people. |

Sorry that your not going to do CEP 2 in your mod. Yet I wonder just how many people out there are going to be doing NWN2.
I know for a fact that many of the players don't have the computer to run NWN2. The requirements for it, leaves a lot of people out of buying the game or even being able to play on a server that is NWN2. A lot of the players are young people without the means to be able to upgrade to what they need on there old computers.
I know that I'm kepting my server NWN and will be upgrading to CEP 2 when it's finished. _________________ Guardian of Menzoberranzan/Dragon Island CEP Team Public Relations I'm Back |

Ginasue, I know what you mean. I myself will be continuing on with my Greyhawk world and as soon as CEP2 comes out, making the world that much better. I would like to jump to NWN2 but the system I have as well as my financial situation (not to mention my players) won't support the change. Darn, I'd really like the 3.5 rules, scaling, 2das loaded before character creation, the new toolset, etc. _________________ Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries. |

ok so a little off topic but the closest I can find ive been off for a year restoring my first house . I was thrilled to hear about NWN 2 ...... till I found out its not releasing for mac . Still NWN was the best game when it came out many years ago and the community made it increasingly more-so even as the years passed . Lets face it The CEP is what made the possibility for a NWN2 ! Any way on coming back I no longer find differentiation between pc cep downloads and mac ?
If I want to play on line what do I need is there one patch set up or multiples Ill have to look for
thanks and lets just be friends and remember what kept the game going for 6 years community spirit ! |

The .exe executable version will NOT work for Mac -- this is one reason there is an archive version in .7z (7 zip) format. You will need a Mac version of 7zip or tool for Mac that works with 7zip format of archive to extract the files.
So again, the Mac version is the .7z archive download.
Make certain you find the .tlk file and place it in the tlk folder -- all the other .hak files are placed in the hak folder.
I know several Mac users who have updated to 2.1 CEP with no problems. If you run into any further difficulty let me know and I can get you in touch with a Mac user who has successfully installed the CEP 2.1 to discuss whatever the technical issue might be.
To be able to play 2.0 CEP you need to install that first and then overwrite it with 2.1 -- OR -- just download the 2.0 tophak, but i do not think that is offered as a seperate download.
To play earlier CEP modules you need to install the 1.xx versions for that. _________________ CEP Team MemberEdited By Barry_1066 on 07/02/08 14:58 |
