Finally, I played HotU with Deekin all the way through. Before that, I only used him at the start of the module as a live punching bag to gain some cheap XP.
It's true, he's very effective as a bard in battle (I actually decided bards were better than I originally thought, and am going to play throuh all 3 OC's with one!), and his Lore skills are very useful...
But... He is SOOOoooo annoying!!! I wanted to wring his scrawny little neck every time he said anything with that raspy voice and terrible grammar... especially the one about "the boss pretends not to notice that Deekin pass gas"...
Well, finally I discovered how to exact my wrath on him: just when you return to Groul, the Quary Master, before you head off to confront Mephistofeles, you can sell either of your henchmen to Groul for a neat piece of equipment.
Of course you can force him to give it to you anyway, if you know his True Name, but this way you can have 2 copies of this equipment, *AND* condemn Deekin to an eternal life of slavery at the quarry (not to mention that you take back all his gear first). I'll do it next time: carry the little rodent all the way with me, just to hear him scream in the end... Mu-ha-ha-ha! |

Aww, Vixxy you know I was pointing out the cliche paladin thing he had going there. My paladin Liana loves Deekin, too. Like all my characters do.

The banter between Deekin and Sharwyn is equally entertaining (particularly them haggling each other down re: Shars Hairdye), and also Dekin and Nathyras discussion about *what Dragons should eat in the Underdark* is excellent.
