I've just realized that when you level up after the first level your hitpoints aren't always maximized, if I roll a d10 it's not always ten+cos bonus for next levels. That is fine if not for this: if in the summary window of the skills and feats I chose I decide to remake the level (clicking on abort in the window) I can reroll my hitpoint thousands of times. This is pointless, because if the policy was to keep PnP rules then you shouldn't be able to reroll and remake the level, on the other hand if it was to maximize your hitpoints it is pointless to roll the dice.
What I mean is that you can get your hitpoints maximized just by remaking, everytime you don't get the max hitpoints, the level. This makes levelling incredibly annoying, expecially when playing multiplayer in those servers which allow pvp. What are your opinions about this?

This is a very, very, very, very old topic (ancient, even!).

Some like it, some don't.

On PWs one can disable this btw with scripting.

In SP, who really cares what one does with their game? It is not like there are no tools that allow one to do pretty much whatever one likes to the character .bic or the Mod itself.

Bioware left the possibility of doing Max hps in, in case someone liked doing so, without also denying those who don't their preference.

I call that a nice feature

What are your opinions about this?

1.69 allows for max hit points autorolled at each level up, those servers that allow rerolling should just turn on the feature... with many thanks from the players.

thanks for uberquick answers, does that work in multiplayer too? If I set the value to 1, will I get maximum hitpoints in multiplayer?

No, the ini settings have to be enabled on the machine that hosts the module.

Yes. In fact they are intended for use in multiplayer.

If you are the host, yes. If not, no.

nwnplayer.ini gives these options:

Max Hit Points=0
Hide Hit Points Gained=0

It's unclear to me how changing the second (bolded) line of code will be manifested.

Is this something used for multiplayer info or does it suppress the number from the level-up confirmation screen?

Basically yes, it is used for MP to hide the hit points gained at level up to keep players from using the cancel method to reroll (though one can also script that). It makes things much more convenient.

It will also work in SP, of course, but why would anyone want to use it?

If that option is set (to 1, rather than the 0 listed above), then when you get your level-up summary, you'll see

Hit Points Gained : ?

rather than something like

Hit Points Gained : 10

Remember that this option needs to be set on the host computer, which in single-player is your computer. So if you want to see it in action, just make the change to your nwnpplayer.ini and play a module until you get leveled. (Chapter 1 of the Hordes campaign with a level 1 PC is a good way to see this quickly.)
