1.01: Do I need a NWN CD Key to use this system? (Back to Top)

Yes. You need to have a game owner account to access the guild and registry system. A game owner account is one that is created within Neverwinter Nights or one that has been activated with NWN CD key on this site. (Go to Edit My Account Details to see if your account is a game owner account)

1.02: What is a guild? (Back to Top)

A guild is an association of persons of the same trade, interests, or pursuits. You can think of it as a type of club. What that means is a group of like-minded people have decided to form a club or guild in order to communicate ideas, play games, socialize or whatever they wish. In NWN, a guild can be game-related like a Thieves Guild, or can be based in reality like The Old Timers Guild, or technical like a Guild of NWN Scripters. Just about anything can be basis of a guild. Some guilds have over a 1000 members others have 5; it really depends on what sort of guild you want to create or join.

1.03: How do I create a guild? (Back to Top)

Very easy. Click this link and it will take you to the Create a Guild page if you are a registered NWN owner.

1.04: Do I need a huge number of people to make a guild? (Back to Top)

Nope. We consider a guild fully active when it has more than five people as members. If you have 5 or fewer members you will receive a private message every two months asking if you wish to continue to operate this guild. If you do, simply respond to the inquiry and your guild will remain open for another 2 months. Inactive guilds where a minimum 5 members have not logged into the guild within a 2 months period will also be sent such an inquiry.

1.05: Is there a limit on how many people can be in my guild? (Back to Top)

Not at this time. We will, however, be evaluating what is needed by the guild community in the future.

1.06: What do I get when I make a guild? (Back to Top)

The Guilds and Registry System gives some really great features to enjoy:

  1. Members list - you can see what servers your guild members are on at any given time.
  2. Guild page visible to all NWN Community members if you wish
  3. Guild calendar - organize, schedule and post events for all guild members to see.
  4. Forums - you can have up to four guild forums that only guild members and BioWare staff and moderators can see or post in if you choose.
  5. Invites - as a guild owner you can send invites to people on the Registry (players, DM's, builders, scripters etc.) to join your guild.
  6. Post News - you can post news onto your guild page.

1.07: Are my guild forums private? (Back to Top)

Be aware that all forums on this site are open to BioWare staff and our designated moderators. All rules of conduct (http://nwn.bioware.com/rules.html and the Web Site Terms of Use) are applicable to guild forums. Your guild forums are not seen by the general public unless you specify this when you create the guild or edit your guild options. See question 8 for more information on 'members-only' vs. 'public' guilds.

1.08: What is the difference between a "public" and a "members-only" guild? (Back to Top)

A "public" guild is one where all Registry members can read your main General Discussion forum, your news and see your members list. In a "members-only" guild your forums, news and members lists are only available to the guild members and BioWare staff and moderators.

1.09: If I have a 'members-only' guild can people still see my guild listed in case they want to join? (Back to Top)

Yes. Your guild is still listed for people when they are searching for guilds even if you have chosen a 'members-only' format for your guild. All of the guilds forums, membership list and so on are members-only. If you do not wish to be listed, edit your guild information and mark it as not accepting requests from the public.

1.10: How do I find people to join my guild? (Back to Top)

Click here to go to the Search Registry page. This is a search engine, which will give you many options and criteria to search through the Registry to find the people you need.

1.11: Can I change the message that is sent in the invitation to join my guild? (Back to Top)

Yes. Go to your guild Administration page, click on "Change Invitation Message" from the options.

1.12: How do I remove people out of my guild? (Back to Top)

Your guild is your own, so you have the power to remove any guild member you choose. Go to your guild Administration page (available to Owners and Officers) and click on Member Administration to list your members and make changes.

1.13: Can I make a guild even if I don't play NWN? (Back to Top)

You need to have a game owner account to access the guild and registry system. A game owner account is one that is created within Neverwinter Nights or one that has been activated with NWN CD key on this site. Guilds which are not NWN related in any way are subject to removal.

1.14: I am receiving too many invitations to join guilds. Can I shut this off? (Back to Top)

Yes. Click here to be taken to the page where you can change your invite options.

1.15: Can I ignore certain people or guild invitation? (Back to Top)

Yes. Click here to be taken to the page where you can set what players or guilds you wish to have on your ignore list.

1.16: Can I send multiple invitations to the same person or multiple requests to the same guild? (Back to Top)

No. If there is an invite or request in existence for your account, your second invite or request will not be sent through.

1.17: Is there a "send all" button so that I can send an invite to everyone on the system? (Back to Top)

No. As you can imagine, the amount of spam generated by a feature like this would be enormous. If you are reported as spamming the system we will take appropriate action including banning your account, disabling your guild etc.

1.18: I have a guild website elsewhere, can I link to it and simply use your system to advertise my guild. (Back to Top)

Absolutely. If you have less than 5 members on this site however, you will need to keep logging in to keep it active.

1.19: I want to see all guilds. (Back to Top)

1.20: I want to add my guild logo to my guild home page. (Back to Top)

At this time we do not have the ability for guilds to put graphics on their guild pages. We encourage you to create a separate website if you wish to use personal graphics for your page and use Guilds and Registry System for its other features.

1.21: I can see my guild members are playing on various servers. How do I join them? (Back to Top)

1.22: Are posts on our forums permanent? (Back to Top)

While we have yet to enforce our rules on forum posts, we do receive the right to periodically clean topics. We cannot make this a permanent repository. While we may change the frequency in the future, do not expect to have records of all your guilds forum posts archived forever.

1.23: Are there a maximum number of events that I can have in my calendar? (Back to Top)

Currently, there is no limit.

1.24: Will my events be deleted after they have expired? (Back to Top)

Currently we will not be deleting events. However, we will evaluate this again in the future.

1.25: Can you have two guilds with the same name? (Back to Top)

No. Guild names are unique.

1.26: What is the meaning of the "Top 5 Most Recent Guilds"? (Back to Top)

These are the most recently created guilds of five or more members.

1.27: How random is the "5 Random Guilds"? (Back to Top)

We have a team of monkeys in a large porcelain bowl shuffling around pieces of card with every guild name. When they fall out of this porcelain bowl and are picked out by our many special search lasers we post them to the list. We want nothing but the best for our community.

1.28: I want to join a particular guild. Where can I request to join a guild? (Back to Top)

You can click the "Request to join this guild" link (shown in yellow) on the main page of each guild. Follow the instructions on sending the request. In addition, you can find the guild owner and send them a private message asking to join and they may add you.

1.29: How long do invites and requests last? (Back to Top)

All invites and requests older than 30 days will be deleted

1.30: Are you open to changing the system? Are you going to expand the system? (Back to Top)

We have plans to further expand this system based on feedback that we receive from our community members. Click here to post in the Web Site Help forum if you have any suggestions.

1.31: What is the Registry? (Back to Top)

The Registry is a large list of people who have created a profile about themselves in order to appear on any or all lists of Players, DMs, Builders, and Server operators that can be searched for by the other members. For example, say I am looking for a Rogue to join my multiplayer game party. I would search the Player Registry for a person who has listed Rogue in his or her profile. Click here to create a profile in the Registry if you have not already done so.

1.32: Define Player, DM, and Builder. (Back to Top)

A Player is someone who has played and continues to play NWN. A DM is the Dungeon Master who uses the DM Client in NWN to run a game while players play through their module. A Builder is anyone who uses the Toolset, scripts, creates their own custom content like new models, portraits and so on.

1.33: How do I list myself as a Player/DM/Builder? (Back to Top)

First, you will need to register your account as a NWN game owner. Simply click here to go to the Edit My Account page and choose Enter CD Key. Then come back to the Guilds and Registry page and choose to create a profile. If you already have a game owner account, then simply create a profile from the main Guilds and Registry page

1.34: I have a great idea for a change/addition/fix to the system. Where can I post it? (Back to Top)

Click here for the Web Site Help forum.
