Details: The Duchy of Genoa 1515 is a designed around the period of human history called the Renaissance. The Renaissance can be defined as the period of humanistic revival of classical art, architecture, literature, and learning that originated in Italy in the 14th century and later spread throughout Europe. Our theme is based upon the year 1515, just two years before 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his "Ninety-five Theses" on a church door in Wittenberg and launched the reformation. The year 1515 is highly noted as a time of great change, advancement, romance, conflict, and war, especially in and around Italy. 1515 is the year that military incursions into Italy help bring the Florentine Renaissance to France. This is noted in history when Francis I king of France (1515-47), known as Francis of Angouleme before he succeeded his cousin and father-in-law, King Louis XII resumed the Italian Wars, beginning his reign with the recovery of Milan through the brilliant victory at Marignano (1515). The Duchy of Genoa 1515 is designed to provide players a world where they become part of this period of history, experience it first hand with wondrous characters that can in essence change the course of history!
