Chapter One Guide - Part 5 Go to Page (Previous Page - Index, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 - Next Page) The Blacklake District
The Blacklake District itself is a very pleasant, clean, well-kept area simmering with tension. It is quite easy to learn that a magic-using nobleman named Meldanen is hording what’s left of the food supply by keeping it behind locked doors in his personal warehouse. Meldanen is known for conducting experiments, and has not been seen in public recently. Meldanen’s EstateThere are two ways into Meldanen’s estate to investigate: the front door, and finding Milly, the oddly alluring laundry women.
Once inside the estate, you need to either persuade Grommin, the inner guard to open the door or take his key from his dead body. Go West to get to the next floor. There are quite a few traps throughout the house so move carefully. The creatures you will encounter are imps, mephits and finally Meldanen’s Apprentice (a level 5 Sorcerer).
In Meldanen’s Inner Sanctum you must speak to the Dryad before Meldanen (level 8 Sorcerer) himself will appear. He will surrender if he receives enough damage. It is up to the player to decide if he is killed or allowed to flee. The player can extract the key to his warehouse full of food and give it to Formosa, a local rabble-rouser, to open the stores for the starving masses. Freeing (or killing) the Dryad will gain you a lock of her hair to use in the cure for the plague. Bring the whole works back to Aribeth for your just reward.
