Chapter One Guide - Part 7 Go to Page (Previous Page - Index, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) Helm’s HoldTake all remaining reagents you have to Aribeth. She will invite you to participate in the ritual to create the cure. You are taken to Castle Never where a large group of priests of Tyr are preparing the cure. Aribeth, Desther and Fenthick perform the ritual and the cure is successfully created.
At this point Desther is revealed to be the evil force behind the attack on the Academy and the release of the creatures. Desther will steal the cure and disappear through a magic portal. Those mysterious mages will make another appearance to cover his exit. In the confusion, Fenthick also runs through the portal. Aribeth asks you to go through the portal and bring both of them back as it appears they were working together. Aribeth cannot believe that her lover would do such a thing. Entering the portal takes you to Helm’s Hold. Into Helms' HoldThere are two paths of different difficulty leading into Helm’s Hold. The front door is much more difficult as an army of undead stand guard. The other is a cave that lies to the west and is more suited for the sneaky types. Instead of an army of undead you will face Jinkies a Fighter/Rogue combination. Helm’s Hold is the final area to explore and is stocked with many undead encounters. In the Courtyard be sure to pick up the Etched Gem, which can be found on the body by the front gate. Place the gem on the altar in the centre of the Entranceway to prevent the Guardian Armors from attacking. In the Prison Block you can pass by the caged undead without disturbing them by wearing a Helm uniform. If you do not have a Helm uniform many undead will attack you. DestherYou should find a staircase leading up for the last encounter with the insidious Desther. He is surrounded by his undead minions who power Desther’s extra magical abilities. To weaken Desther, simply destroy his minions first. Desther is a 10th level Cleric however, and is very difficult to deal with. Desther will surrender once he has received a certain amount of damage. You will escort him back to Neverwinter to await trial.
This is the trial for Desther and Fenthick. It is Aribeth’s job to decide on punishments. She is forced to sentence Fenthick to death. Desther is burned at the stake and Fenthick is hung. This shatters her faith and Aribeth leaves Neverwinter. End of Chapter 1 Go to Page (Previous Page - Index, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
