The Confederation of Planes & Planets: Worlds In Development

Profile by Jay Watamaniuk

The World of Etheria

World Leader: BlueCougar of The Legion of Angels Gaming Guild

Etheria 1What are the names and websites of the independent worlds involved in your organization right now?

I am the world leader of The World of Etheria. Etheria is going to be a hot bed between good and evil as well as a shift from the old gods to recognition of a supreme being above them with evil supernatural forces fighting to stagnate the growth. Add to that political intrigue among the countries with a secret evil that uses espionage, smuggling, and bribery to gain power, and you have a great environment with which to game. All those closet, hardcore, play by the rules, take the time to develop characters, twist the plot when they don't expect it, type of DMs and players are welcome to be a part of Etheria.

Etheria's web site is here, the web site for The Legion of Angels Gaming Guild is here.

Etheria 2What sort of vision is your organization pursuing? What do you hope to achieve, and what are your goals?

The Legion of Angels Gaming Guild is making a move towards NWN with the creation of Etheria and inclusion within CoPaP. We have always stood for legit, challenging gaming, and we have found an awesome match within CoPaP.

During our time in CoPaP, we have realized the greater vision of creating a multiverse of the physical, elemental, ethereal, and astral planes. The potential for gaming is staggering, and the current world leaders are dedicated and talented with a commitment to creating a cohesive playable multiverse where a character can be a traveler or settle down on a world. Once completed, CoPaP will BE the universe envisioned within 3rd Edition AD&D, including the Forgotten Realms and many new undiscovered planes and planets. It is a bold vision, and it is completely achievable within the member worlds of CoPaP.

Can you tell us about the participating worlds and how you all came to be a part of this?

We became aware of CoPaP through the Bioware Wednesday feature of Alvis. Once we played on Alvis and became more familiar with CoPaP, we knew it was the perfect match for Etheria in its development. Since that time, I have created characters on all the other worlds online, since you have to visit a world via a portal from the world your character is in before you are allowed to enter it, just to see what they offered from worlds at beta to fully developed ones. It is impressive the range and scope of play that can be found among the worlds. I'm still trying to find all the portals, for I have found only one from Alvis to Hala, so I have one character who has visited both. There are some characters who have actually traveled the majority of worlds that are linked via the portals. One day, it will be possible to meet a character that has traveled planet and plane during his adventures following storylines that wind through them.

Etheria 3Can you tell me about your player community?

Currently, Etheria only exists on an unlinked test server that is currently offline for upgrades. Eventually, it will be transferred to our Guild server and opened for testing to the CoPaP community.

Are all the participating worlds in your organization exactly the same as far as features and game play? If not, what are some differences?

Each plane and planet within CoPaP is a different experience for gaming with custom tilesets and shared custom items with other worlds. So, if you get that unique item it doesn't go inert when you leave! The only exception are certain plane items that thrive in power in its native plane but become mundane once they are removed from it; i.e. drop from +3 to +1. The different races and beings are phenomenal as you travel with established cultures and world dynamics that sometimes even overflow into linked worlds.

We are doing our best to create as unique an experience within Etheria as possible while still being true to a "real" gaming world. Currently, Etheria stands at 300+ areas on the mainland, plus 2 islands as well as ships. That number will grow substantially once the detail and secret areas are filled in as well as "UnderDeep" within the Western Ridge Mountains. It's an ongoing project and we hope to bring Etheria online and running before all are complete to begin to develop the social dynamic of the world between NPCs and PCs.
