The Confederation of Planes & Planets: Worlds In Development
Profile by Jay Watamaniuk
World Leader: Arcsylver
What are the names and websites of the independent worlds involved in your organization right now?
The name of the World is Novus Terrarum, the website is shared with the world of The Legends of Valinor.
What sort of vision is your organization pursuing? What do you hope to achieve, and what are your goals?
Pretty much we are trying to make a well-balanced, fun, playable world that all of the players of CoPaP will enjoy both visually and from a roleplay perspective. The important thing is that we are all trying to create an exciting, low-experience, low-magic item world of our own to add to the diversity of CoPaP.
Can you tell us about the participating worlds and how you all came to be a part of this?
Well, I only know of a few. Hala is a great world that is recreating the Plane of Ysgard. Abyss404 is creating a lost layer of the Abyss and has really captured that plane's flavor nicely. We have a sub group in CoPaP as well that are working to build the Forgotten Realms, which is my favorite D&D setting, so I am looking for ward to that. Avlis is well known and is continually growing and improving. They have done some amazing things there. The Legends of Valinor are doing amazing things with the scripts they are making, you will love what they are doing on that world.
Can you tell me about your player community?
Well, right now we don't have much of a player base ourselves as we just went into the stages of beta testing for Novus. But, I do know many of the playtesters are excellent roleplayers who seek out quality building and quests to enjoy as well as a place free of exploiters and other out-of-character interruptions.
Are all the participating worlds in your organization exactly the same as far as features and game play? If not, what are some differences?
Not by a long shot. In Novus we went for the theme of a lost continent on the world of Ea. That is the planet that the Legends of Valinor is located on. We base our world on the theme of a continent blasted by an ancient war between the common folk and, at the time, ruling mages who abused them. The gods ended the war about 100 years before the players see it, and it is now a divided the continent. Needless to say, magic users are probably not very well liked in NT.
In addition, the various worlds of CoPaP all use either the Avlis core systems, such as the crafting, death, and other systems, or they use a custom version they create themselves. Many use various haks. In NT, we chose to use the Mirador Superset to maintain a cohesive visual look to the outdoor areas to prevent that warping to the next area feel when crossing transitions.
Are there any plans to expand your project?
Well, money and time permitting, we would like to add at least one more server to build the second half of our continent. We could theoretically go with more, but two should be enough for now for NT.
