Drogan has lived a long life as an adventurer and Harper. He is a dwarven wizard who has fought evil creatures the likes of which most people dare not even dream about. He shrugs off this past, however, having decidedly left it behind when he retired to the remote village of Hilltop to live out the last of his years in peace as he passes on his adventuring knowledge to a select group of young students.

The Hilltop villagers respect Master Drogan, though they also think his students an odd and motley bunch. Drogan has always said, however, that there are two types of people in Faerun: those who answer the inner calling to become more than they are, and those who do not. There will come a day soon, he maintains, when the outside world will catch up with each of his students... when each of them will be put to the greatest challenge they have ever faced. He can only hope he has prepared them enough for that moment.

Ayala Windspear is an elven woman who has dedicated much of her long life to the advancement of the Harpers. She is dedicated to the worship of the goddess of magic, Mystra, and wanders from land to land looking for traces of evil to report to other Harpers... or to combat herself. Ayala has seen much combat in her lifetime, and any ally of good would be glad to have her at their side.

According to Mischa Waymeet's fellow student, Xanos, there is nothing quite as irritating as Mischa's particular combination of naiveté and earnest faith. Mischa tries her best to ignore his jibes, however. She is Master Drogan's youngest student, a paladin-in-training who looks forward to a life of good deeds and evil slaying with a wide-eyed innocence that is completely devoid of subterfuge. Mischa means well, however, and even at her young age is already a formidable combatant... though her desire for "something" to happen in remote Hilltop may come far sooner than she'd like.

There are not many half-orcs who become sorcerers... and if Xanos Messarmos has his way, he will be one of the few, as well as one of the most powerful and successful. Xanos came to Drogan's school seeking one thing, and one thing only: a future laden with gold and adventure. It's quite obvious that he does not seek to do so with a sorcerer's usual charm, either. Xanos gets along poorly with his fellow students, being both arrogant and selfish. He has little tolerance for the slow of mind or weak of will, and claims not to care what others think of him... yet spends a lot of time making sure others note his intelligence and power. If Xanos does good during his future as an adventurer, as Drogan must hope, it will surely be accidental.

All dragons need to be kept entertained when they're between nefarious plots, and the mighty white dragon, Tymofarrar, is no exception. His entertainment comes in the form of tiny Deekin Scalesinger: kobold bard, spinner of yarns and bawdy limericks, and teller of heroic tales that interest even the most jaded of audiences. Of course, when your primary audience is a dragon that threatens to eat you whenever displeased, you're forced to stay on your toes... and Deekin is as high-strung and nervous a creature as you'll find as a result. This bard privately dreams of becoming something more than he is, however. He dreams of voyaging places where no kobold has ever dreamed, of seeing strange lands he has only read about... and of becoming the intrepid and faithful sidekick to the first gallant hero he spots. If his draconic master would even let him go, that is.

Dorna Trapspringer is one of Master Drogan's apprentices... though this dwarf is no wizard. Dorna is a rogue, ready to take on any obstacle that gets in her path, as well as a devout follower of Vergadain, dwarven god of wealth and luck. As practical and unflappable a companion as one is likely to have... with Dorna at your back, you've got both a steady hand and killer instinct that may just see you through more than one tough spot ahead.

Some adventurers might write off the dreaded white dragon of the frozen North as both the weakest and least intelligent of the draconic races. One should not forget, however, that this is on a scale of dragons... and that there are always exceptions. Tymofarrar is a cunning denizen of the Silver Marches, far more interested in magical matters than some of his wilder brethren, and always willing to involve himself in any scheme that is to his benefit. With a small army of kobolds at his command, Tymofarrar has setup a comfortable lair in the Nether Mountains, and with a decent plan he is quite eager to become a household name in the region.
