Second Floor

Across the hall in the Common Room you will meet three adventurers that are a good source of information. None are available to become henchman if asked.

Tanarell - a retired Paladin that is feeling somewhat useless in these days of crisis. He will be able to tell you a bit more about the Undermountain. He says that it is never the same for long and is always changing according to the erratic desires of Halaster the wizard who created it.

Sabine - comes from a country where slavery is still accepted but has turned her back on that way of life. Her story is rather tragic if you care to listen.

Cyphus - a monk of the Guarded Mind Order is very interested in learning more about the Underdark (an area below even the Undermountain) and has come to record what he can from adventurers with experience. All he has heard about recent events is that Durnan is organizing an expedition to explore the black depths.

At this point you will find at least two quests in your journal: Relic of the Reaper, which describes the strange item you find on your person that you can’t seem to get rid of; and The Armory, which details the place where you snatched a few pieces of essential equipment.

The Relic

The Relic of the Reaper has the same purpose as the Stone of Recall had in the original Neverwinter Nights: it is activated when you are killed. The difference is that you must have Rogue Stones in order to make it work. The second difference is that after Chapter one it does not work. At that point, you are one your own.

Old Friends

Descending down the stairs you find a large room filled with refugees from the city. You will also see four familiar friends: Daelan, Linu, Tomi, and Sharwyn. They have arrived in Waterdeep when the call for heroes went out. Depending on your previous relationship, and how you treat him now, Daelan will be able to provide a few more details of the Undermountain while the rest of the four will interject with their own impressions on the situation. Tomi does mention a 100,000 gold piece reward which is always interesting to hear....

In the corner stands (or rather wobbles) a Dwarf by the name of Drezzy who has had far too much to drink. Drezzy will spin an outrageous tale about being swallowed by a dragon and having to eat his way out. The story is excellent and absurd and should not be missed.
