He provides more detail about the recent attacks and what the city intends to do about this crisis. In the middle of speaking, the inn is invaded by a group of Drow and Duergar who paralyze most of the adventurers that are standing in the room. The battle is on! The four former henchmen will pursue the invaders out of the room and into the Well Room. In the aftermath you should speak to Parley, who has now decided to have nothing to do with the Undermountain. She is a Druid who, after a telling encounter with a half-elf prince named Faragati, has decided to come to the city to seek new experiences. She is now concerned about how her return to nature will sit with her after dwelling among the stone and wood of buildings rather than the forest. She will cast ‘Bull’s Strength’ on you to help in your quest. From this room you can go to the Well Room or attempt to go outside. If you try to enter Waterdeep, you will be barred from exiting by a large Half-Orc. You must seek Durnan’s permission before leaving. The Well RoomMore Drow are found here to test your battle savvy. When they are defeated, something hideous ascends from the black depths and blasts its way through your small group: a Beholder! Stunned and paralyzed you watch helplessly as the four henchmen again move to stop the invaders. On the elevator that serves to move adventurers from the Yawning Portal to the Undermountain, they lower themselves into the dark depths. They are gone by the time your body again responds to your will. Talking to a very frustrated Durnan will reveal that a mysterious woman named White Thesta has something special for you should you decide to brave the Undermountain in search of the four impatient adventurers. White Thesta, a follower of the rather saucy deity named Sune, Goddess of Beauty, is holding a very valuable item; a Rod of Resurrection which can be used to bring friends back to life. This item can be very handy for making sure any henchmen you have remain at your side even if a battle goes badly. White Thesta can also buy your extra equipment and has a small selection of items she sells including healing potions. Buy lots of healing potions and other protections -- but of course you know that! Speaking of henchmen, a very familiar Kobold waits patiently in the corner. Deekin has come up in the world a great deal since last you met him. In fact you have a copy of a book he wrote about the adventures in Shadows of Undrentide with his last boss (which could have been you). He does weave a somewhat sad tale of being tricked by his publisher when it came to the money made on his book, but Deekin is not bitter about it.
