The City of Waterdeep

A - The Yawning Portal B - The Empty Keg C - The River Gate D - Little Musing and Magic Shoppe E - Argali’s Arms

There is not much to see at this time in Waterdeep, as the paths out of this section of town are barricaded against constant attacks. You may even encounter small raiding parties of Duergar battling with the city guard. Argali’s Arms and the Magic Shoppe are the only two locations of interest as everywhere else has closed up tight against the attacks.

The selection at Argali’s Arms is much greater. If you did not find the weapons or armor you needed from the Inn’s armory then you should be able to find something here. Sell your extra items here for more money as the prices are a bit steep. Argali is a strange one and needs a little patience before you will be able to see her inventory.

The second very important person in here is the blacksmith. She can tell you all about changing the way your character’s equipment looks, finding material to craft items, weapons and armor, making weapons and armor and making magical items. This is all very useful stuff.

Ye Ol’ Magic Shoppe

Sobrey

You will need to convince the rather nervous voice behind the door to let you in, but once inside Sobrey will welcome you with open arms. Sobrey was an instructor of the magical arts at the University of Waterdeep and Sage of Soothsayers Way... but he lost his job when the ‘cretins’ burned the school down. It seems that the school was one of the first places to be attacked when the Drow and Duergar attacked the city. He mourns the passing of many friends and his own students who perished trying to protect a Cockatrice that had recently hatched. He has constructed a magical telescope that allows the viewer to see different parts of the city and some of the fighting. The player is encouraged to look through the telescope and will be treated to a battle scene at the university.

In addition to mentioning that several magical items were stolen in the attack and the city would be grateful to retrieve them, Sobrey has a wide assortment of weapons, armor and magical items to help equip your adventurer.

After your shopping, head back over to the Inn for the start of the dangerous bits of Chapter One.
