Undermountain - Centre

Map of Undermountain - Centre

A - Sharwyn’s Body
B - Colored pillars
C - Blue Dragon
D - White Rod
E - The Mirror Room, Daelan’s body
F - Black Longsword

Through this section you will encounter Ogres, Orcs, the occasional Drow party, Harpies and Trolls. Be sure to prepare before entering any large rooms. They are sure to contain representatives of either the Ogre Mage or the Fairy Queen, engaged in combat but ready to slay any foolish enough to interfere.

Sharwyn

Retrieving the Hasty Henchmen

One of the first things you will encounter as you make you way into the Undermountain is the body of Sharwyn. Resurrect her using your Rod of Resurrection from White Thesta and learn how she came to be dead in her underwear on the floor.

Player Tip

If you are particularly evil you may resurrect Sharwyn only to kill her.

Daelan

The body of Daelan lies in The Mirror Room. When you gaze into the depths of these mirrors you will see a reflection of yourself with a choice of items. You may select one of these items before the mirror disappears. They can range from healing kits to gems. There is one mirror, fourth down on the east wall, from which a twin of your character is created which will step out of the mirror and attack.

The Talking Sword

To the North of the entrance way to this map is the Hall of Sleeping Kings. You will see several skeletal figures sitting in thrones. As you walk around the room, you see that they appear to be very dead. Despite the rather ominous setting, you can loot the room for everything except a very special longsword. This very impressive item is the Black Longsword, which will plead with you (that’s right, it talks!) to remove it from this chamber as it will soon go mad. This unfortunate spirit was once Enserric the Grey who ran afoul of monsters when exploring Undermountain and now lies trapped in this sword. This is a very potent magic item that gives you the option of deciding what sort of weapon it can become to accommodate a variety of weapon proficiencies. Taking the sword will activate the room’s undead guardians.
